· PART

4

From one,
I inherited the strength to fight.

From one,
the courage to love.

From one,
the certainty that I would never stand alone.

They gave me different pieces
of themselves

a father’s strength,
a mother’s heart,
a sister’s hand
that never let go.

And somewhere between
their scars,
their sacrifices,
their prayers,
their battles,
and their love

I became me.

Not because life was kind.
Not because the road was easy.

But because every time
the world took something from me,
I discovered something
they had already left within me.

The strength to stand.
The courage to feel.
The reason to stay.

And the certainty
that wherever life takes me,
I will never walk there alone.

Because home was never merely
the walls around us.

Home was them.

And if someday
I forget who I am,
if I lose my way,

I’ll remember
the hands that built me,
the hearts that held me,
and the people
whose lives quietly became
the foundation of mine.

Some inherit names.
Some inherit fortunes.
Some inherit kingdoms.

I inherited them.

And that was more
than enough for me.
